AutoCAD Crack PC/Windows [Latest] 2022 Contents History AutoCAD Crack For Windows was designed by John Walker for the first version of the AutoCAD program. Unlike other programs available for general-purpose microcomputers, the original AutoCAD was designed for a specific graphics terminal, one that utilized a raster graphics display. It was also the first drawing application to introduce true 2D drafting functions (as opposed to primarily 3D modeling), allowing designers to use the application as a drawing tool to create architectural designs. Key features The original AutoCAD was capable of plotting and editing 2D geometry and labeling text on the various objects in a drawing and even animating these objects through time (graphics-based animation). The original AutoCAD included a wide variety of commands that could perform many types of 2D drafting operations (e.g., marking points, creating arcs, drawing lines, fitting circles). These commands were used to produce a variety of 2D shapes including circles, ellipses, polygons, rectangles, and many types of lines (e.g., dashed, continuous, arrow, and so on). Text was also plotted on the screen. When a path was started, the points plotted in that path could be edited in any order, and the path would be updated automatically (as long as the endpoints were edited). 3D drafting The AutoCAD program was also the first to introduce a 3D application that allowed the creation and editing of 3D solids. These solids, which had separate axes of rotation, could then be rotated, moved, and translated, and the surface of these solids could be edited in various ways (e.g., solid edges could be marked with faces). The 3D application also allowed the generation of 3D surfaces that could be fit to a series of 2D lines (usually specified in a separate drawing) and which were updated as the lines moved. The AutoCAD program was also designed to enable a variety of different views of a 3D model. For example, a 3D solid could be viewed from a selected camera position, or the user could rotate the view to see the solids from any desired angle. A typical feature was that the 3D model could be viewed in orthographic (true orthogonal) or perspective view, with rotational and translational camera views (as well as other views). These views could be switched while a 3D drawing was in progress. While the existing CAD systems at the time were primarily text-based, AutoCAD included both graphics and programming elements, allowing users to create high-level graphical representations of structures and mechanical systems. In 1988, the current version of AutoCAD (AutoCAD R14) was released, and was the first 3D-capable CAD system. Acquisitions Autodesk acquired MasterCAD/MasterPlot in August, 2010. In November 2011, Autodesk acquired former rival Dynamo, creators of Chiron. In October 2012, Autodesk purchased ComponentOne, creators of Revit (now Autodesk Revit Architecture), Creative Cloud (now Autodesk Design & Publish), and other design software. In March 2014, Autodesk completed the acquisition of Bentley, creators of Bentley Microstation and Bentley Navi. In August 2014, Autodesk acquired Cerius Technologies, creators of C-Builder and other modeling, animation, and visualization tools. In November 2016, Autodesk acquired Editdock, creators of Inviggen. In February 2019, Autodesk acquired construction-documentation startup BridgeDoc.
